ABOUT THE RESPONSIBLE PHOTOGRAPHY COLLECTIVE
The responsible photography collective was conceived of by Lori A. Cash and Angela “Angie” Maloney in June 2022. Both of them are lifelong outdoors enthusiasts with decades long histories in photography. Both of them have observed that, as digital photography and cell phones have made photography more and more accessible, enthusiasm for photography has increased dramatically. But that same enthusiasm leads people to do things that they probably should not.
Both Lori and Angie are convinced that most people are well-intentioned. Unfortunately, that doesn’t reduce the harm that is done. The responsible photography collective is their effort to provide food for thought, discussion, resources, and ideas to help people understand and mitigate the consequences of what can happen when they go for that perfect shot.
ABOUT LORI A CASH

About Angela Maloney
Angela “Angie” Maloney is a fine art photographic artist, speaker, and workshop leader based in Melbourne and the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. Her work has been written about, published, and exhibited in Australia, the U.S. and Europe. She focuses largely on black and white and what she calls “bent” photography depicting the world around her, increasingly in ways that depart from literal recreation of scenes. Her photography is an act of exploring the world and reflection on the ways that the places a person goes can change the person. She has lived in enough places that her accent often confuses people and where she’s from is a hard question to answer. Different towns, states, and countries can be the right answer depending on the context of the question. But her real home, and the best answer, is in Victoria, Australia.
Angie formerly served as the ambassador coordinator for North America for Nature First, a global non-profit that advocated for responsible nature photography practices. She is the coordinator for the Joyce Evans Circle, a women’s exhibiting and publishing photography collective located in Melbourne, and frequently collaborates with the Magnet Galleries, also in Melbourne. She is the gallery coordinator for the Arc Yinnar, located in Yinnar, Victoria. Currently, she is most interested in exhibition and speaking opportunities throughout Australia. She is a co-founder of The Responsible Photography Collective.
