Presentation on Responsible Photography

September 27 Written by Lori A Cash

Earlier this year, I was asked and accepted to give a photo presentation on responsible photography during James River Week by the Henrico County Tuckahoe Area Library. This year, James River week was held September 9-16, 2023. There are many events hosted during James River week, from boating and hiking events, to educational events, and food events.

Lori A Cash, wildlife and nature conservation photographer, speaks on responsible photography for James River Week 2023 at Henrico County Area Library in Virginia.

My presentation was on the last day of the celebration, and I was honored to be asked and to give this responsible photography presentation for such an event in Virginia. The James River is the place where many historic events concerning this country’s founding occurred. It is the largest area on the eastern seaboard for roosting bald eagles, and it has a very important ecosystem for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

I discussed how we, as photographers, can minimize our impact on the James River, and how these tactics apply to other locations as well. I also shared how photographers’ actions have a great impact on wildlife, nature, and other photographers, birders and nature lovers. In addition, I also shared photo techniques on how to create fantastic landscape and wildlife images and share some of the images I have taken along the James River.

Conservation Photographer, Lori A Cash, is speaker at Tuckahoe Library in Henrico County in Virginia for James River Week 2023.
